Vision, Mission & Values

Vision

Truly innovative research in translational medicine is born at the interface of excellent basic and medically oriented research. Therefore, our research is a mix of both. Our focus is on neuronal cell biology and biochemistry in the context of the living nervous system, including synapse biology, brain wiring and cellular heterogeneity, to understand the mechanisms of major neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, with the goal of identifying new strategies to prevent and cure these diseases.

Mission

We want to force a breakthrough in the prevention and cure of neuronal disorders. This requires a deep understanding of the normal nervous system and translating this knowledge into a mechanistic understanding of disease.
