Yesterday Wim Annaert left for a 2-week biking vacation to Bretagne, France. He will combine this with fundraising for Alzheimer research: for each kilometer he bikes, he will donate €1 to SAO, the Belgian Alzheimer foundation. You can support Alzheimer research by sponsoring his challenge as well and donate (starting from 0,10€/km) to SAO: send your name to Liesbeth or Gwen and in two weeks you’ll know the distance that Wim cycled!
Of note, because of Covid-19, donations are for this year 60% (!) tax-deductable. So, you only pay 40% of your donation.
Let’s make this a success for all of us and for future Alzheimer research!

Good news this week for several of our postdocs!

Lucas Baltussen (de Wit lab), Polona Jager (Vanderhaeghen lab), Thomas Moens (Van Den Bosch lab), Diana Piol (Da Cruz lab) and Zoë Van Acker (Annaert lab) were awarded a junior postdoc fellowship from Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO). Polona was selected for an EMBO fellowship on top and Diana's FWO fellowship fits in a unique investment in ALS research. 🙌

Dan Dascenco (de Wit lab) was awarded a senior postdoctoral fellowship.

Congratulations everyone! 🍾
