This September, we once again team up with the Alzheimer Research Foundation ('Stichting Alzheimer Onderzoek')
to raise funds for research through baking and selling tons of cupcakes.
You can help us!
We'll be selling cupcakes at our departmental events and the Leuven markets this month. Scroll down for an overview of when and where you can buy delicious cupcakes. Want to help out at the market? Indicate you availability here.
Allergic to cupcakes? On a diet? Want to help out more than you can eat? No worries!
You can donate as much or as little as you want directly to the Alzheimer Research Foundation on BE83 0017 5620 5915
(mention 'VIB cupcake' - donations of 40€ or more are tax deductible)
Bart De Strooper talks about Alzheimer research and our cupcake sale during 'Nieuwe Feiten' on Radio 1. Listen to the interview.
We would like to thank all helping hands in advance. Our cupcake bake & sale is a real team effort!
Thanks to Ace Packaging in Webbekom, our customers at the Leuven markets can take home a whole box of cupcakes.
Many thanks to VIB for helping us maximise the impact of our fundraiser. For each cupcake we sell, VIB has pledged to match 1€!
When and where can I get cupcakes?

=> Not based in Leuven? Get in touch and we'll work out a way to get the cupcakes to you.
Why are you selling cupcakes?
The Alzheimer Research Foundation relies on donations to support much needed research on Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Over the past 22 years, they have supported more than 128 research projects, including several at our department.
In honour of World Alzheimer Day on Sept 21st, the foundation encourages everyone to raise funds by baking cupcakes throughout the whole month of September. We take part in recognition of the important work of the Alzheimer Research Foundation. To raise funds, but also to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and dementia. To underscore the need for more research, and to give hope to the thousands of people who count on us to advance our understanding of Alzheimer's, so we may one day be able to halt, prevent or reverse the disease.
Where will the money go?
All the proceeds go directly to the Alzheimer Research Foundation, a Belgian non-profit organisation that funds researchers at Belgian universities and research institutes. Click here to find out more about the foundation.
