13 August 2017 – Walking for dementia

On Sunday August 13th, Bart De Strooper will join 'Wandeling Tegen Dementie', a fun and healthy event for all ages that aims to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and at the same time supports research. You can join Bart on and many others on this 9 km hike in and around Hasselt. Check the website for more information.

27–29 Sept 2017 – VIBes in Biosciences

VIB's biennial international PhD symposium is back in 2017! With several of our own PhD students in the organizing committee, we have no doubt it will be an exciting meeting. A great opportunity for our PhD students to interact with top speakers as well as PhD students from inside and outside of VIB. Take a peak at the speaker list!

September 2017 – Cupcake challenge: Part 2

Last year we collected more than €10.000 for 'Stichting Alzheimer Onderzoek', a Belgian charity that supports research into Alzheimer's disease, including at our department. This year we'll try to do even better, which means baking, selling and eating even more cupcakes!

9–13 Oct 2017 – PhD week & symposium

The latest batch of CBD and NERF PhD students gets to hang out all week: they are introduced to each other and to the wide range of research projects at both departments. On Thursday and Friday, all other PhD students join in for a 2-day symposium, with both oral and poster presentations and plenty of opportunities to network. Two international keynote speakers have been confirmed: Prof. Lex Bouter from VU Amsterdam will talk about methodology and integrity and Prof. Silvio Rizzoli from the University of Göttingen will enlighten us about STED and synaptic function.
